Hike into Puzzle Lake Provincial Park on June 4th

This hike is a good one and we're excited to get out on the trail with you on Saturday, June 4th at 2pm!

Not a whole lot of people have visited Puzzle Lake Provincial Park north east of Tamworth, a non-operating park. By non-operating we mean no amenities, no admission fees, no trail markers, no toilets, no nothing... except undisturbed beauty.

Rob, a volunteer organizer for our little Naturally Outdoors outfit, visited this park a few years ago and really enjoyed it. You can read about his experience here.

We'll be entering from Norway Lake Road and hiking an old logging road to Norway Lake. It's a 10.6km round-trip hike with some diverse terrain, but you can turn around anytime. Just hike the distance you wish to, no judging here.

A few items of note...

  1. There is no parking lot so you will need to park alongside the roadside. Here is a link to the location. The road turns from good shape to undrivable very quickly, so be aware.

  2. We haven't visited this site since 'the storm' from a couple weeks back so we're hoping that access will be unimpeded from the fallen trees. This park is south of where the major storm destruction took place so hopefully we'll be fine.

  3. It's early June so chances are the mosquitoes will be a little thick. We strongly recommend lathering up with some bug spray.

  4. Please wear appropriate footwear, and bring a snack and lots of water. As mentioned, this isn't a super simple hike.

  5. After the hike everyone is welcome at the Lakeview Tavern in Erinsville for a beverage and a bite to eat.

We're excited for you to join us. No worries if you can't make it this time. We have released our schedule through July so there are plenty of dates to choose from. Take a look and pencil in some hikes and paddles on your schedule.
